WIDOWS OF EX SERVICEMEN

Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state:-
(a) the details of widows of ex-servicemen, State-wise and rank-wise;
(b) whether the Government advances any monthly assistance and / or one-time specific purpose grants to these war-widows or their dependent children;
(c) if so, the details of the monthly assistance as well as grants and the total number of widows / dependent children who receive these pensions on monthly basis or have received these grants, ranks-wise;
(d) whether the Government regularly revises the monthly assistance provided to these widows; and
(e) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?
ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE IN THE (SHRI JITENDRA SINGH) MINISTRY OF DEFENCE
(a) The details of widows of ex-servicemen, State-wise and rank-wise are at Annexure-I.
(b) & (c): Yes, Madam. Kendriya Sainik Board Secretariat provides monthly assistance and one time grant under different welfare schemes to the war widows and their dependent children. The details of monthly/ one-time assistance and rank-wise number of widows / dependent who received this assistance are at Annexure-II & II-A, respectively. States/UTs also have similar schemes to provide assistance to war widows and their dependents.
(d) Yes, Madam. Need based revision is undertaken by the Government.
(e) The last revision was made on 19.10.2011. The details are at Annexure-III.

ANNEXURE-II
Details of assistance provided to widows/dependents of Ex-servicemen1. War Memorial Hostels (WMH): The War Memorial Hostels provide shelter to the children of War widows, war-disabled, attributable cases. Recurring grants are provided to the 36 in number WMH for wards of Defence personnel @ Rs. 1350/- p.m. and Rs. 675/- p.m. for attributable and non-attributable cases, respectively.
2. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM RAKSHA MANTRI’S DISCRETIONARY FUND (RMDF) UNDER VARIOUS SCHEMES FOR WIDOWS/WAR WIDOWS AND FAMILIES OF ESM:
