Subject:- GRANT OF ADDITIONAL FREE RAILWAY WARRANT TO RANKS ALL OF THE ARMED FORCES SERVING IN FIELD/HIGH ALTITUDE/COUNTER INSURGENCY/ COUNTER TERRORISM OP AREA

Sir,
I am directed to refer to the Ministry's letter No.5(1)/2007/D(Mov)(1) dated 20 Aug 2007 on the subject noted above and to state that doubts have been raised on the applicability of facility of additional railway warrant to all ranks of the Armed Forces serving in Field/High Altitude/Counter Insurgency/Counter Terrorism Operational areas. Though not amplified in the ibid orders, it is clarified that this facility is available only to troops serving in these areas and living away from their families.
