Sub:        Filling up of unfilled PA/SA Departmental Quota vacancies by Gramin Dak Sevaks for 2011.
                                As communicated under Directorate letter No.A-34012/5/2011-DE, dated 13.07.2012, the Department has decided to conduct the direct recruitment examination for PAs / SAs for the years 2011 and 2012 through approved outsourced agency i.e. M/s CMC Limited on turn key basis.
                                The procedure, Scheme and Syllabus of the examination to fill up the posts  of Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant by direct recruitment has since been revised and circulated vide Directorate letter No.60-9/2009-SPB.I, dtd.08.05.2012 which is further circulated vide this office letter of even No. dtd.11.5.2012.

                                Notification for advertising the Direct Recruitment of PAs / SAs from open market will be issued separately. The eligibility of the GDS to appear in the   examination to fill up the unfilled vacancy of recruitment as per Rule-6(10)(a)(i) and (ii) of Department of Posts (Postal Assistant and Sorting Assistant)  (Group-C Non-Gazetted) Recruitment Rules,2011 is as follows:
                The Gramin Dak Sevak should have obtained at least 50% marks in 10+2 Standard or 12th class with English as compulsory subject(excluding vocational streams) and have put in a minimum service of five years;
                They should be within 30 years of age (35 years for those belonging to Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes and 33 years for Other Backward Classes). * Gramin Dak Sevaks are holder of Civil Posts but they are outside the regular Civil Service due to which their appointment will be by direct recruitment.
                                                The examination for eligible Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) to fill up the unfilled vacancies of LGO Examination will also be held as per extant rules / guidelines of the Department on the same day and time decided for Direct Recruitment as per the same syllabus.
                                The unfilled vacancies of PA / SA of LGO Examination   which are to be filled up by GDS as per prescribed eligibility is attached herewith in Annexure-I. The  vacancy is subject to change.
                                Now, the willingness of the eligible GDS to appear in the recruitment examination to fill up the unfilled vacancies of LGO Examination may be  called for in the format vide Annexure-II.
                The  list of willing and eligible GDS for appearing the Direct Recruitment Examination may please be forwarded to this office in the proforma vide Annexure-III by 31-08-2012 for supply of OMR Kit  from this office.

Cost of Application Form: The OMR Kit for GDS will be supplied to eligible candidates between 03-09-2012 and 14-09-2012. The cost of OMR  Kit is Rs.50/- which needs to be deposited by GDS under UCR / ACG-17 and supply proof while sending willingness to appear in the Direct Recruitment Examination .
Examination Fee:
                The applicants have to pay prescribed fee of Rs.200/- and it should be deposited under UCR / ACG-17 and receipt obtained. Particulars of fees paid have to be entered in Col.21 of the OMR Form.
                All female candidates and applicants belonging to SC/ST/PH categories are exempted from payment of examination fees. Fees once paid shall not be refunded in any circumstances.
                OMR applications received without prescribed fees from the non-exempt category and received unfilled in any manner will be summarily rejected.
Pattern of Examination :
                                                The Applicants shall be subjected to an Aptitude Test with a total 100 marks covering the following subjects / topics. Aptitude Test (Paper-I) will be comprising following four parts (A/B/C/D). The total duration  of the Aptitude Test will be 2hrs (120 Minutes). There is no negative marking.
Part ‘A’
25 Questions on General Knowledge – Questions on current events, sports, history, geography, basic economics, general polity, Indian Constitution, Science environment etc. – 25 marks.
Part ‘B’
25 Questions on Mathematics of matriculation standard which may cover number system, simplification, decimals, corrections, simple and compound interest, percentage, average, profit & loss, discount, menstruation, time & work and time & distance etc. – 25 Marks.
Part ‘C’
25 Questions on English covering grammar (prepositions, adverbs, conjunction,  direct / indirect speech, singular & plural, tenses, antonyms / synonyms etc. – 25 Marks
Part ‘D’
25 Questions on Reasoning and analytical Ability – 25 Marks
Computer / Typing Test (Paper-II):
               
                The  Typing Test shall be for a duration of 30 minutes (15 minutes each for Typewriting and data entry) consisting of one passage of 450 words in English or 375 words in Hindi to be typed with a minimum speed of 30/25 words per minute respectively & Data entry of some figures and letters each carrying equal marks on Computers. The typing test and test of data entry operations will be conducted on Computer key board but not on type writer.
                The Division-wise final merit shall be prepared on the basis of aggregate marks obtained by applicants in Aptitude Test (Paper-I) only subject to their qualifying in Computer/Typing Test(Paper-II).
                The last date of receipt of filled  in OMR form at this office is 25.09.2012. Applications  received late will be rejected.
